A Daley Labor Government will invest $80 million over the next four years to upgrade police stations across NSW.
A key focus of these upgrades will be improving security at police stations.
Labor believes it is essential that police officers and members of the community should be safe when they attend a police station.
However, police stations are increasingly targeted by offenders such as violent extremists, fixated persons and “lone-wolf” attackers.
In the 12 months to September 2018 there were 1,540 incidents of assault on law enforcement premises. This is an increase of more than 20 per cent compared to the previous year.
Labor’s $80 million investment will be allocated to police stations throughout NSW, including to police stations in rural and regional communities.
