NSW Labor Leader, Michael Daley, confirmed a Labor Government will allocate $100 million to install lifts and a commuter carpark at Tuggerah Station, as well as lifts at Ourimbah, Lisarow, Niagara Park and Narara stations if elected in 2019.
Labor was the first to commit to installing lifts at Tuggerah Station in November 2018, after listening to the local community’s strong campaign to make the Station more accessible.
After the Liberals cancelled the project in 2011, and after eight years of inaction, Minister Constance and the NSW Liberals finally visited to promise station upgrades across the Central Coast.
Minister Constance and the Liberals cannot be trusted to deliver after doing nothing for eight years.
Mr Daley said “After years of Liberal neglect, and with an election just weeks away, Minister Constance’s claims that he’s listening to the people ring hollow.
“This project was being delivered in 2011 and was then cancelled by the Liberals.
“Only Labor will actually deliver the much-needed upgrades to stations on the Central Coast because they are our priority, not spending $2.2 billion on Sydney stadiums.
“You can’t trust Minister Constance, he said the Sydney Light Rail would be on time and on budget, he messed up the new train timetable, he hasn’t phased out trains with no air conditioning, and couldn’t even get the trains he bought overseas to fit the tracks” Mr Daley said.
NSW Labor Member for the Entrance David Mehan said “The Central Coast has a large population of over 65s - it’s common sense to have lifts here at Tuggerah Station to make life easier.
“We met with the community in November 2018 and delivered for them, Minister Constance is playing catch up because there’s an election weeks away.”
