A Daley Labor Government will hire 200 additional firefighters over the next four years.
The safety of families and communities across NSW is the highest priority.
The hiring of these 200 additional firefighters will be staggered over the next four years to ensure every new firefighter receives the rigorous training required for these demanding roles.
The 200 additional firefighters who will be hired by a Daley Labor Government will be allocated to areas which have been neglected by the Liberals and Nationals:
- 50 of the additional firefighters will be allocated to Western and South-Western Sydney to address the pressures caused by rapid population growth;
- 116 of the additional firefighters will be allocated to rural and regional NSW to address seasonal population fluctuations and population growth; and
- 34 of the additional firefighters will be allocated to other fire stations throughout NSW which have been left under-resourced by the Liberals and Nationals.
Labor’s plan to hire 200 additional firefighters is fully funded and has been fully costed by the independent NSW Parliamentary Budget Office.
