A Daley Labor Government will restore and support paediatric cardiac services at the Sydney Children’s Hospital (SCH) in Randwick.
This comes after the services were neglected by the Liberal-National Government.
Senior staff at the Sydney’s Children Hospital have raised the issue of paediatric cardiac services and on-site cardiac surgery with the Berejiklian Government, but they have been ignored.
Shadow Health Minister Walt Secord said he wanted to ensure that the State’s two main paediatric hospitals - Randwick and Westmead - had world class services.
Mr Secord has also met with Randwick and Westmead doctors on the issues plaguing the network.
“This is about protecting the most vulnerable in the community and listening to the needs of doctors and the medical professionals,” he said.
“The Liberals and Nationals have the wrong priorities. They prefer to splurge $2.2 billion on stadiums rather than invest in health services for vulnerable members of the community - premature babies with life-threatening heart conditions.”
On February 3, Labor made the election commitment with Labor candidate for Coogee Marjorie O’Neill.
