Michael Daley and Labor will join Our Watch and deliver respectful relationships education from an early age.
Violence against women is now recognised to be a serious and widespread problem in Australia, with enormous individual and community impacts and social costs.
Our Watch was established by a $1 million contribution from the Commonwealth and Victoria in 2013 to drive nationwide change in the culture, behaviours and power imbalances that lead to violence against women and their children. Our Watch is an independent, not for profit organisation working to raise awareness and engage the community in action to prevent violence against women and their children.
New South Wales is the only state or territory in Australia not to have joined Our Watch, which was established to drive nationwide change in the culture, behaviours and power imbalances that lead to violence against women and their children.

Under Labor, New South Wales will join Our Watch.
The Liberal and National Government’s track record on the prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault has been poor with their refusal to provide respectful relationships education to primary school students; failure to join Our Watch and their failure to release the NSW Sexual Assault Strategy, almost three years after it promised to do so, despite sexual offences being on the rise in New South Wales.
