A Daley Labor Government will employ 200 extra firefighters across NSW to better protect the state’s growing population and to reduce growing pressure NSW’s firefighters.
NSW Opposition Leader Michael Daley said the NSW Liberals and Nationals were focused on spending $2.2 billion of taxpayer dollars on stadiums in Sydney, but a Daley Labor government would make sure the people and property of NSW are properly protected.
Mr Daley said under the NSW Liberals and Nationals, Firefighter numbers have fallen over the past 8 years. The numbers, as published in the FRNSW 2017/18 report, speak for themselves.
Mr Zangari said the shortage of firefighters was of particular concern to people in rural and regional NSW over the holiday period because the populations of many areas swell with the high number of visitors during holidays and tourist seasons.NSW Shadow Minister for Emergency Services Guy Zangari said that the Liberal and National Parties neglect of firefighting across NSW had led to fewer stations and personnel to fill gaps in rosters. He said that this had a flow-on effect when firefighters were to be drawn from other locations to make sure crews operate safely.
